Abstract

During the last decade, new microfluidic methods for the production of emulsions have emerged. Due to the high potential of microfluidics in a variety of fields, various geometries have been introduced and investigated. One of the widely used microfluidic geometries is the geometry of coflow microchannels. Different sizes of polydimethylsiloxane microparticles could be obtained by altering the viscosity of the continuous phase and the flow rate of the continuous and dispersed phases. The results show that by increasing the viscosity of the continuous phase, HEC percentage has increased from 1.1% to 3%, or increasing the flow rate of the continuous phase from 20 (ml/h) to 40 (ml/h), the size of the particles becomes smaller. Particle size was also determined using an optical microscope.
