چکیده

High blood pressure and cognitive impairments are common disorders in the elderly. This study aimed to predict the cognitive performance of elderly people with hypertension based on healthy self-destructive biotypes, levels of sensation seeking and perceived stress. This was a descriptive correlational research study. The statistical population of this study consisted of elderly people with hypertension in Urmia. 215 elderly patients with hypertension were selected by convenience sampling method by referring to health centers in Urmia. The Montreal Cognitive Test questionnaire, the Self-Dissolving Health Questionnaire, the Zuckerman Sense-Seeking Questionnaire, and the Perceived Stress Questionnaire were used to collect data. Pearson's test and multiple regression with SPSS 17 software were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the cognitive performance of elderly people with hypertension based on healthy self-destructive biological patterns and levels of sensation seeking and perceived stress. The predictor variables explained 33% of the cognitive performance score (0.001). Executive functioning 0.15, arousal 0.11, social self 0.3, coping self 0.2, and perceived stress 0.2 predicted changes in cognitive performance (0.001). Therefore, in elderly people with hypertension, healthy self-destructive biological patterns are weak and levels of sensation seeking and perceived stress are high. To help these elderly people, emotional control and stress management skills should be taught.
