Abstract. Synthesis of N-rich ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) was developed from cheap egg yolk biomass as a carbon precursor by nano-casting using SBA-15 as a hard template, and carbonization at high temperature followed by removing silica moiety of SBA-15 template. Activated OMC efficiently catalyzed one-pot deacatalization-Knoevenagel reaction of malononitrile and various substituted benzaldehyde dimethylacetal to give corresponding benzylidene malononitriles in 89-99% yields. Also, prepared OMC was used as efficient catalyst for the formylation of various substituted anilines using DMF as formylating reagent in water, affording formanilide derivatives in high to excellent yields. In addition, OMC was reported for immobilization and stabilization of Au and Pd nanoparticles, which efficiently catalyzed the three-component A3 coupling reaction between aldehydes, amines and phenylacetylene to furnish propargyl amines, and hydrogenation of nitroaromatic compounds to the corresponding aniline derivatives, respectively. Synthesized catalysts were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, and TEM techniques.
