Abstract

With increasing traffic volumes and rising traffic to vehicles, especially in cities, the number of pedestrian bridges has also increased significantly. Like all other structures, pedestrian bridges are also damaged. In order to increase the safety of pedestrians, it is necessary to identify existing damages and to repair them, to ensure the safety of the bridge structure. Due to the difficulty of locally methods for damage identification and in order to enhance the reliability of detection and identification of structural damage, in recent years, signal methods have been developed significantly. In this research, a new methodology based on cone-shaped kernel distribution with new damage index is introduced for damage detection on pedestrian truss bridges. To evaluate the proposed method, the numerical model of 15th Khordad steel footbridge has been used. Based on the results, the proposed method and damage index identifies the damages and determines its location with high precision. However, given the ease of use, the proposed method can be used to identify damage of pedestrian bridges.
