In this paper, molybdophosphoric acid encapsulated into dealuminated Y-zeolite was prepared by two method including hydrothermal method treatment and chemical operation. Catalyst was characterized by XRF, AAS, FT-IR, SEM, BET, XRD and WDX analysis. The reductions in the number of aluminum and sodium atoms in the unit cell formula, surface area, and pores volume and the increase in Si/Al ratio were observed for EDTA treatment toward hydrothermal method. This can be related to the removal of extra-framework aluminium species in chemical operation with EDTA in comparison with hydrothermal treatment. Consequently, catalyst loading in two methods becomes different. The catalytic activity of two catalysts has been compared in the xanthenes synthesis reactions. Reducing of the reaction time and increasing of the catalytic activity of MPA-MDAZY toward MPA-DAZY can be related to the high catalyst loading.
