Abstract

Multinuclear active sites are similar to those of metalloenzymes and enzymes. Enzymes are polyfunctional catalysts containing several groups. Metal cluster complexes encapsulated within the nanopores of a zeolite are good mimics for metalloenzymes and proteins in biochemical transformations which catalyze consecutive chemical reactions. Here, we wish to report the synthesis of heteronuclear metal clusters [MM΄M̋ (O)(CH3COO)6-(py)3]-Y. this heterogeneous catalysts were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, Ultraviolet-visible, field scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The encapsulated metal clusters showed good catalytic activity in the epoxidation of cyclohexene with H2O2/O2. The epoxide yields were 70-90%. The effect of several parameters including temperature, oxidants and NaBr as an oxidation promoter was investigated
