Title Novel thiazoline -copper and palladium complexes as efficient antibacterial agents
Type Presentation
Keywords copper
Abstract Synthesis of CuII and PdII complexes containing 2-(2'-Hydroxyphenyl)-2-thiazoline as a bidentate O-N donor thiazoline ligand (tzol), [Cu(tzol)2] (1), [Pd(tzol)2] (2) and their characterization by various techniques such as IR, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis are reported. The structures of complexes 1 and 2 were analyzed by density functional theory. The representative synthetic procedure involves the reaction of metal acetate with corresponding ligand in methanol. Two complexes [Cu(tzol)2] and [Pd(tzol)2] have shown moderate to good antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. In this study the most potent activity was observed in Pd(II) complex against all tested strains when compared to respective standard drugs streptomycin and ampicillin. [
