Abstract
|
A novel intermetallic Ti-Cu alloy has been synthesized for biomedical applications utilizing high-energy mechanical alloying followed by microwave-assisted sintering. Microstructural characterization confirmed the predominance of TiCu and Ti3Cu4 phases, alongside a minor presence of Ti2Cu. The alloy exhibited a mean grain size of 28 nm, a microhardness of 880 Hv, and a fracture toughness of 10.1 MPa ....m ã . Furthermore, cell viability assays demonstrated significant biocompatibility with MG-63 osteosarcoma cells and good osteoblast formation rates, highlighting its promising applications in the biomedical field.
