چکیده In recent years, nanoparticles of CuO, Au, Ag, Ag alloy and magnetic and carbon nanostructures, among others, have been widely exploited for enhancing chemiluminescence (CL) systems and, consequently, for the improvement of analytical figures of merit of these systems [1]. In this work, β-MnOOH nanoplates were synthesized by using hydrothermal method and then fully characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. It was found that β-MnOOH nanoplates could catalyze H2O2- HCO3- CL reaction. Noteworthy that CL reaction is exothermic reaction in which the part of the energy of the reaction is released in the form of light. The analytical methods which are based on CL detection systems feature some advantages such as high sensitivity, wide dynamic linear range, easy of operation and simple instrumentation [2]. Salbutamol (SAL) is a member of the β2-adrenergic receptoragonist family and was widely exploited as bronchial dilatingagents. It is able to effectively inhibit the release of some allergicsubstances to avert bronchospasm, bronchial asthma and other atopic diseases related to the respiratory tract [3]. The results of our studies revealed that SAL has a quenching effect on the β-MnOOH nanoplates-H2O2-HCO3- CL reaction. Based on this finding, a new simple and sensitive CL method was developed for determination of SAL. Under the optimal CL reaction conditions, the CL intensity was linearly related to the concentration of SAL in the range of 1.0×10-5- 1.0×10-4 mol L-1, with detection limits of 5.6 ×10-6 mol L-1. The relative standard deviation for five determinations of 5×10-5 mol L-1 SAL was 2/6% (n = 5). In order to study the selectivity of the proposed CL method, the effect of presence of some common species in 5.0×10-5 mol L-1 SAL on the CL intensity was studied.
