چکیده lobal agriculture is facing significant challenges based on salinity, drought, climate change and poor management practices. The projected world population of 10 billion in 2050 will require innovative solutions to increase agricultural production more than ever. In response to these mounting challenges, new engineering nanoparticles (NENPs) hold significant potential. For sustainable agriculture, NENPs in forms of nanopesticides, and nanofertilizers are crucial for seed germination, nutrient delivery, genetic transformation, and plant production (Lowry et al., 2024). Increasing lines of evidence has suggested that NENPs are effective in mitigating plant stresses, but there is still a lack of research examining the underlying mechanisms. This special issue, entitled “Novel approaches to alleviate abiotic stresses in crop plants using new engineered nanoparticles,” aims to bridge this gap by presenting a collection of 10 review and 9 research papers. The research papers provide practical insights into how NENPs can alleviate abiotic stress conditions in crops and review studies report the latest published results on plant stress and nanotechnology, offering a comprehensive overview of advances and novel research questions in the field.
