چکیده Background: Teaching broadening thinking skills is considered an effective approach in preventing and treating addiction in adolescents. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of teaching in broadening thinking skills on changing the components of moral development, altruism, cognitive flexibility, and sexual rights in adolescents with high-risk behaviors such as addiction. Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental design was utilized, incorporating both a control group and an intervention group. adolescents with high-risk behaviors A sample was selected using convenience sampling, and 26 adolescents with high-risk behaviors were randomly allocated into two distinct groups: an experimental intervention group (n = 13) and a control group (n = 13). The experimental group received broadening thinking skills for five weeks, but the control group did not receive any intervention. The assessment tools employed included the Cognitive Flexibility Questionnaire (CFQ), Moral Development and Altruism Questionnaire (MDAQ), and the Halbert Sexual Assertion Questionnaire (HISA). Data analysis was conducted through ANCOVA and MANCOVA. Participants were assessed at pre-intervention, post-intervention, and follow-up time points. Results: The findings showed a significant effect of broadening thinking skills on changing the level of cognitive flexibility, moral development, altruism, and sexual rights (p < 0.05). Conclusions: From the research findings, it can be concluded that training broadening thinking skills improves moral development and altruism, cognitive flexibility, and sexual empowerment in adolescents with high-risk behaviors such as addiction.
