چکیده Nanotechnology is known as one of the latest methods in improving the quality and health of food, which is also useful in most industries, including the food industry, and has had extensive innovative applications in different parts of the food chain, such as production, processing, and packaging. Using nanoparticles as an active system has a wide range of antimicrobial effects, which can be mentioned as the most significant of them. Nano-coating and nano-laminates, with their barrier function, preserve quality and extend the storage life of food products, and nanosensors and nanobiosensors are used to control quality changes and detect pathogens, toxins, pesticides, and other miscellaneous substances. Nano-capsule polymers have a special ability to store and release the carrier material. The application of nanoscience also improves the quality and efficiency of packaging material. Currently, most of the materials used for packaging food are not biodegradable, which increases environmental pollution. Recently, polymer nanocomposites have been considered for fruits and vegetables packaging, which prevents physical damage to the products and reduces pollution. In this chapter, different types of nanoparticlenanoparticles along with their various applications, the use of nanocomposites, nanosensors, etc., are discussed.
